I really really enjoy cooking, but not so much the meal planning. It feel like it always takes so long to pull it all together. I decided about 6 months back that I needed to simplify this area of my life so I joined www.emeals.com . It was SO very easy to just print off the meal plan and grocery list for the week and head to the store. I have been eating low carb since August of 2012 so I chose the "Low Carb" menu option. The only problem that I found with this "solution" was my family didn't seem to like many of the dishes. We are a fairly "in your face flavor" type of eaters and found that about 1 of 7 meals in a given week were up to our flavor expectations. There were only about 4-5 meals that we really enjoyed and I added to my recipe box for repeat performances. However, now that I've gotten the hang of low carb menu building I have decided that it's probably time for me to start doing my own menu planning again, and hopefully our meal time satisfaction will increase once again.
I only plan 5 meals a week because we eat frozen pizza on Fridays and usually end up going out to eat and finishing up leftovers during the rest of the weekend. We eat dinner leftovers for lunch during the week and for breakfasts we usually do oatmeal, eggs, yogurt and granola, cereal or smoothies, so no real planning required there. Here's what's on the Neher family marquee this week (starting Monday).
Crock-pot Pheasant with Cole Slaw (this one is closest to my Momma's) & Spice Apples
Venison Tips (minus pasta) with Scalloped Sweet Potatoes & Pan Seared Green Beans
Honey Mustard Kielbasa and Cauliflower (instead of white potatoes) with Edemame
If you try any of these I'd love to hear what you think!
P.S. We found out that "puppy's" forever family named him Copper. (?) He's solid black so I don't get why they decided to call him the color of a shiny new penny. Matt and I decided they must be into irony. :-)
